African Union Passport

How do you capture the aspirations of a continent in a single document?

In 2020, the African Union planned to release a passport that allows holders to travel to each country to travel to each country without needing a different visa for each one traveled through.

The trans-African passport is one of the initial flagship projects of Agenda 2063 – the African Union's plan to position Africa as world super power by 2063.

My concept for the design of this passport seeks to inform the holder (African citizens from its various countries) about other flagship projects of Agenda 2063 though vibrant and contemporary illustrations, that reference the geometric forms of traditional African textiles. Additionally, it seeks to inspire the holder about the future of the continent by call to action.

Some process documentation for this project.
